Are There Tarpon In Key West?

Key West and the Florida Keys are hope to one of the greatest tarpon migrations in the world. Although there are tarpon in Key West year round, March through July thousands of tarpon migrate through the Keys on their spawning journey.

With the cooler temps and high winds this year has started slow, but tarpon season is here. Big fish have filled into the backcountry channels and basins, as well as some fish trickling down the oceanside.

Look forward to getting up at sunrise to chase morning rollers, hunting fish in the backcountry basins, and fishing the large strings traveling oceanside.

Tan/peach tarpon toad as well as a palolo worm fly have done the trick for me so far, iā€™m looking forward to a busy few months!
